High speed and the heaviest of loads

What do motor racing and heavy load transport have in common? The names of Felbermayr, SCHEUERLE and TEREX. The Le Mans 24-hour race – one of the most famous racing circuits as well as being one of the most prestigious motor sport events in Europe. Also taking part is the Austrian haulage company owner, Horst Felbermayr, who drives a modified Porsche 996 GT3-RSR. The three-driver team consists of father and son Felbermayr along with the American professional driver, Philip Collin, who take turns in piloting the powerful 500 PS sports car round the very challenging course. The lap times say it all: the Felbermayrs are not hobby drivers but are very experienced professionals who are to be found among the top competitors in their class. The two owners of a heavy load transportation business have been in the racing business for many years now and take part with total commitment. The many trophies which are on display meanwhile at home in the Austrian town of Wels are also proof of this

The car used in the last 24-hour race in Le Mans had a distinctive feature: the company logos of the Pfedelbach-based heavy load vehicle manufacturer, SCHEUERLE, and the crane specialist TEREX were prominently displayed on the rear window and wings. And here is actually the answer to the question, what do motor racing and heavy load transport have in common. Shortly before Le Mans, Felbermayer ordered a range of heavy load equipment from the two companies.

The Austrian company placed an order with the renowned Swabian manufacturer, SCHEUERLE, for the delivery of modular heavy load transport vehicles, which although have not been designed to drive very quickly but can carry enormously high loads. Felbermayr, which ranks among the leading heavy load hauliers in Europe, has extended its fleet of vehicles with self-propelling, hydrostatically driven and electronically steered SPNT modular transporters from SCHEUERLE. With transporters of this type, loads of 15,000 tonnes and more have already been moved. Felbermayr decided in favour of the SCHEUERLE technology as the compatibility of the transporters to the heavy load vehicles the company already had was judged to be the best. With the new equipment, Felbermayr will also be occupying the pole position in the heavy transport business in the future. At the same time, TEREX received an order for 38 mobile cranes with which Felbermayer will continue to expand its presence in this sector as well as positioning itself well among the leaders through the performance capability in crane operations.
