Cutting Edge, the new collection from cutlery specialist HEPP, sets new standards with its distinctive and disruptive design. The expert jury of the German Design Award also acknowledged this and awarded CUTTING EDGE the top prize in the “Excellent Product Design – Tabletop” category. The German Design Council was particularly impressed by the innovative design language of the nine-part collection. “The cutlery impresses with its successful combination of aesthetic and functional design. The innovative recess in the handle and the reduced design of the spoon and prongs contribute to a harmonious overall look. “HEPP CUTTING EDGE” makes efficient use of materials and is pleasant to handle at the same time,” was the assessment of the experts. With the “Winner” award, the committee of the German Design Award honours outstanding and exemplary design achievements in the context of a specific category. The selection is made by a separate jury of experts for each category of the German Design Award.
CUTTING EDGE combines the essence of Western and Asian table culture in a unique design. To do this, New York designer Kickie Chudikova was inspired by the East Asian tradition of using spoons and chopsticks together. The combination of the surprising recess on the handle and gently rounded edges makes this cutlery an absolute eye-catcher. The dynamic design language continues elegantly with the gentle recess in the transition to the spoon – which, like the prongs, is deliberately minimalist. The extraordinary design of the knife completes this extraordinary new development. The special opening in the handle is not only visually appealing, but also gives a feeling of exclusivity when you hold it.
