BAUR Prüf- und Messtechnik GmbH, Sulz (Austria) developed its oil tester DTL C to measure the loss factor (tan delta), the specific resistance (rho) and the relative permittivity (epsilon r). Its measured values allow inferences on the refining and cleanliness of insulating and silicon oils and their age. As opposed to the first device version introduced two years ago, the redesigned BAUR DTL C carries out measurements with the same precision in much shorter time. This is possible due to a new heating that heats up the oil faster. When the exact target temperature is achieved – a sensor measures the actual value directly in the measurement electrode –, the measurement results are precise and reliable statements on the wear of the oils (according to IEC 61620). Exact maintenance of the respective temperature is important, especially during measurements of the loss factor (tan delta) that deliver up to 1 x 10-6 accurate values. The new preheating mode keeps the measurement cell at a specific temperature. Hence, tests can start without delays.
Measure automatically, evaluate ergonomically
As users can analyse used and new oils with the BAUR DTL C, conclusive statistics can be prepared and aging trends derived with the BAUR software ITS. For this, the software offers an ergonomic, multi-lingual user interface and simplifies the evaluation of measured values. Data archiving or comparison of measurement series of various data or samples is also simplified. The actual oil test is likewise easy. For this, the operator starts any of the seven stored measurement cycles on the test device (or with the ITS software). Alternately, it can carry out custom measurements. The BAUR software ITS copies the results from the measurement device to the computer via an USB interface.
