HEPP wins international GOOD DESIGN Award 2025 for CUTTING EDGE cutlery collection

Fusion of Asian and Western tableware impresses international jury

The CUTTING EDGE cutlery collection has been awarded the prestigious GOOD DESIGN Award 2025. The prize is bestowed by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design in collaboration with the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. The jury described HEPP CUTTING EDGE as “an eye-catcher par excellence”. Inspired by the East Asian tradition of using a spoon and chopsticks together, the outstanding design of CUTTING EDGE combines the essence of Western and Asian table culture. The committee noted that, paired with gently rounded edges, the striking recess on the handle transforms the cutlery into an intense visual and tactile experience, while the gentle opening in the handle elegantly captures the dynamic design language – particularly where it transitions into the spoon. “Winning the GOOD DESIGN Award 2025 confirms our commitment to making design, quality and innovation tangible in every detail,” says Stephan Schmuck, Lead Product Management at HEPP. ‘CUTTING EDGE is a bold design statement in the true spirit of our motto, “The Art of Service”, and we are delighted to receive this international recognition.’ HEPP's core brand promise, 'THE ART OF SERVICE', defines our ambition to transform gastronomy into an art form through aesthetic and functional excellence. This involves combining our 160-year history as the inventor of hotel silver with contemporary trends.

Ten jury members, all eminent international industry experts, rated CUTTING EDGE as excellent. A fusion of elegance and sophistication, this unique fine dining design showcases craftsmanship, with each piece crafted to deliver an exclusive guest experience with tableware that meets the highest standards. Consisting of nine exquisite cutlery items, the collection meets all the requirements of high-end gastronomy, providing an exceptionally refined touch to every course. This bold statement piece for the dining table was created by New York designer Kickie Chudikova, who creates elegant masterpieces for renowned brands worldwide. Her aim is to give each product an unmistakable aesthetic.

International recognition for outstanding design
The GOOD DESIGN Award is one of the world's longest-running and most recognised design awards. Established in Chicago in 1950 by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, it has been synonymous with exceptional design, innovation, and functionality for over seven decades. This year, the museum received a record number of submissions from leading manufacturers, as well as industrial and graphic design firms, from over 55 countries. The award recognises the best consumer and product designs, with a particular focus on sustainability, excellent design, and exceptional functionality. In November and December, the 75th international GOOD DESIGN jury convened to review over 1,100 submissions, selecting the products whose exceptional design quality earned them the award.
