In the past, anyone who used an Actuator Sensor Interface but wanted to avoid direct contact between AS-i flat cables and round cables on drag chains had to use separating strips in the chain or conventional H05VV-F cables which, although easy to install, are not suitable for AS-Interface networks in terms of capacity or inductance. In practice, mismatches like these can adversely affect data transmission processes and even, in the worst case, cause system failure.
The new shielded MOTIONLINE® product LI9YHC11YH (dimensions: 2 x 1.0 mm²) has been specially designed not only to offer AS-i-compatible electrical properties and do away with the need for separating strips, but also to ensure that the cable can be drawn in together with power/motor cables, particularly where space is at a premium. Compatibility is ensured thanks to the optimised capacity, surge impedance and inductance of the new round cable.
The new cable is suitable for M circular connectors, which offer a maximum outlet size at the rear for 8-mm cables. This new, shielded round cable is halogen-free, flame-resistant and cULus 21198/10493-certified. It is currently available in the following cross-sections: 2 x 1.0 mm² (shielded) and 2 x 1.5 mm² (unshielded).
The MOTIONLINE® cable portfolio from Nexans also includes unshielded AS-i shaped cables in the dimensions 2 x 1.5 mm² and 2 x 2.5 mm², and with rubber, TPE or PUR insulation. A special feature of the Nexans TPE solution is that it is based on genuine TPE Santoprene and not on PVC compounds with additives.
