Turkish Yeni Elektrik optimises power plant utilisation with ProCom solution

Optimisation solution of the Aachen-based consulting enterprise supports Yeni Elektrik in the successful participation on the electricity market

In October 2013, the Turkish company Yeni Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (Yeni Elektrik) appointed ProCom GmbH in Aachen, Germany, with the order to implement a solution for the optimisation of the power plant utilisation. The solution will provide suggestions for the best possible marketing of a combined
cycle power plant based on the IT platform BoFiT. The power plant is currently being constructed by Yeni Elektrik in Kocaeli Dilovasi, near Istanbul with an installed capacity of 865 MW_el. It will be operational in early 2014.
The solution will support all key business processes for power plant scheduling and trading in the Turkish Electricity Market (PMUM) and thus allow the best possible positioning on the day-ahead market. Any restrictions from obligations on the balancing energy market are taken as much into consideration as contract parameters or technical restrictions of the plant.
The IT platform BoFiT ensures a smooth daily operation by mapping and automating the prior specified business processes. Furthermore, the mathematical optimisation of power plant utilisation is performed on the basis of the IT platform using a technological and economic model of the portfolio.
