Brushes are becoming increasingly customized – and, in some applications, increasingly fine. ZAHORANSKY is responding to the growing demand in this area with the technical advancement of the Z.LYNX 3. The latest version of the fully automatic machine offers manufacturers the option to produce twisted micro brushes with a twist in wire diameter as small as 0.3 millimeters without having to invest in an additional specialized machine. In addition, the filaments can now be sheared so that the end product has a total diameter of just around one millimeter. The reason for the latest advancement of the Z.LYNX 3 was a specific customer requirement. Especially in medical technology, there is a growing need for micro brushes with very small diameters, for example for cleaning pipettes, the cavities of micro tweezers, or flushing catheters. Upon request, ZAHORANSKY also integrates customer-specific special options, for example, for marking different brush variants. Added to this is the already established option of combining different filament materials in a single brush. The upper limit for the shaft wire diameter remains unchanged at 4.0 millimeters.
Material Versatility Through Combined Filament Feeding
In addition to the new possibilities it offers for very fine wires, the Z.LYNX 3 impresses with its high flexibility in material selection. The machine processes filaments ranging from nylon to natural hair, wire, and wool. In particular, the processing of wool trim remains a key differentiator in the market. This is made possible by a combined feed system: standard filaments are fed via a filament box, while wool is fed in parallel from additional spools. This allows brushes with differently segmented trim areas – so-called “divided trim” – to be manufactured in a single operation. Beyond purely technical enhancements, ZAHORANSKY also offers custom special options for the Z.LYNX 3 upon customer request. These include, among other things, the integration of additional marking or identification elements in the brush eyelet, which allow different brush sizes or product variants to be clearly distinguished from one another. Such solutions are developed in collaboration with the customer and specifically integrated into the existing machine design. “What we have consistently refined in the Z.LYNX 3 over the past few years ultimately makes it exactly what our customers need: a machine that grows with your needs. Proven Performance Data of the Z.LYNX 3
The Z.LYNX 3 is the larger model in the ZAHORANSKY series of machines for twisted brushes, designed for brush lengths ranging from 60 to 1,000 millimeters. It produces up to 7.5 brushes per minute fully automatically. The manufacturing process is structured in parallel: While the wire is fed, cut, and bent, and the filament is pre-twisted at the front of the machine, the final twisting, trimming, and contouring of the brush take place simultaneously at the rear. The filament is fed either from the filament box or from spools, allowing for the efficient production of both standard products and more complex designs. With its robust construction, proven process reliability, and now expanded range, the machine is aimed at manufacturers who value high flexibility and quality in the production of twisted brushes.
