AVERATEC notebooks neutralise CO2 emissions
In line with the Kyoto Treaty, AVERATEC ensures carbon dioxide mobility
Notebook manufacturer AVERATEC today launches its carbon dioxide reduction campaign just as 141 countries are starting to slash greenhouse gas emissions. For each notebook sold, AVERATEC
promises to pay for the neutralisation of one tonne of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions on behalf of the client as part of the ClimatePartner initiative(www.climatepartner.co.uk). The initiative brings together companies and consumers to drive forward environmental protection.
This way, AVERATEC customers can rest assured that their next journey will be passed off as CO2 neutral. Customers registering on-line on the Averatec web site receive a certificate issued by ClimatePartner, detailing the purchaser’s contribution to carbon dioxide reduction and the protection of the environment.
The principle of carbon dioxide reduction projects is simple. Emissions of greenhouse gases in one place are compensated and neutralised by additional environmental protection provisions in another place. Climate protection projects like this one are made possible by high-grade emission reduction certificates.
The government’s campaign for CO2 reduction was launched last week saw the Department of Transport assign ratings to demonstrate how green cars actually are. Cars are rated on a scale from A-F based on their CO2 emissions. Depending on the means of travel, one tonne of CO2 can fly passengers from London to Edinburgh and back three times or it can take a Ford Fiesta from England to Sicily and back. A train passenger can even embark on a 6200 mile journey. A CO2 calculator works out how much carbon dioxide a car emits.
We take the mobility seriously and as a notebook manufacturer, we think we should make an important contribution to environmental protection,” says Andy King, General Manager AVERATEC UK, explaining the company´s engagement in environmental issues. He continues: We address the conscious user who does not just go for the cheapest product but who pays attention to optimal price/performance ratios. These are users who would rather do without unnecessary bells and whistles if, in return, they are given a product that equips them with
professional facilities for working when travelling. And if environ-mental protection is already included in the price, it might become an additional argument for the user’s buying decision, says Andy King, outlining AVERATEC’s position.
The ClimatePartner programme issues a certificate to all newly registered AVERATEC customers, which promises to neutralise emitted greenhouse gases. ClimatePartner hopes to motivate and support individuals and companies in contributing to a voluntary protection of the climate. Programme partners commit themselves to offering various climate neutral products and services.
AVERATEC has successfully launched the same project in Germany, working in co-operation with ClimatePartner.
