The heavy load low-bed vehicle EuroCompact "F7” has been designed for payloads up to 99.6 tonnes and is characterised by a range of further advantages for the customer such as even shorter bogie units. These developments are based on findings and observations in the field, which have been collected, evaluated and integrated in the new F7 concept.
The "F7” – with compact dimensions – aims to remain below those special requirement limitations set for heavy and special transportation whilst, at the same time, offering the greatest possible load length and maximum payload. Thus, the F7 can become operational by means of a simplified licensing procedure, and requiring only one driver and a permanent certificate of exception for empty runs in Germany. The bogies were based on the proven pendulum axle technology used in the EuroCompact series with a 12-tonne axle load at a speed of 80 km/h. With one and two-axle dollies, two to five-axle pendulum bogies and different bridging and adapter versions, the F7 EuroCompact series allows a wide range of combination possibilities to handle a large number of transport tasks.
The F7 generation offers an impressive range of advantages:
Short construction whilst maintaining low height
The compact design of the gooseneck dolly combination and pendulum axle bogie has meant a clear reduction in length. With this, the lowbed trailer combination is almost half a metre shorter with same lowbed length, which has an additional positive effect on the cornering ability. The height of the pendulum axle bogie in the driving position has been reduced on the F7 to a very low 1,165 mm, with axle compensation of 200/+420 mm.
Improved cornering ability with up to 65 degree steering angle
By reducing the length of the dolly and pendulum axle bogie, the coupling mass now only constitutes 17,190 mm when using a 5-metre bridge. Thus, the overall length when using a 4-axle truck tractor has been reduced to 21,800 mm. In addition, the EuroCompact pendulum axle technology offers a 65 degree steering angle for the dolly and 60 degree for the pendulum bogie, which keeps the rear swing-out under 1,100 mm. The F7 is also extremely manoeuvrable as part of the complete truck-trailer combination and is absolutely no problem to drive around roundabouts, as well as negotiating tight situations on the construction site. The F7 pendulum axle bogie achieves cornering ability levels far superior to that of knuckle steering axle combinations.
Gooseneck dolly with all-terrain coupling
The lowbed is hitched to the drive-over gooseneck dolly by means of a simple-to-operate hook coupling. With the new all-terrain hook coupling, the deck can also be connected to the gooseneck dolly or to the additional dolly on uneven ground and fully loaded without any problems.
XXL-heavy-duty recess in the bogie unit
Excavator booms and boom extensions can take up an even deeper position down to 600 mm above the road surface, which has been offered through the heavy-duty recess in XXL format in the pendulum axle bogie of the F7. This means that there is even more usable height for loading. The 900 mm width ensures that massive boom extensions can also be accommodated.
