The new compact low-bed trailer generation from SCHEUERLE
At the bauma 2007, SCHEUERLE and NICOLAS will be jointly presenting the successor to the well-known and proven EuroCompact trailer – the "Formula 7 (F 7). The heavy load low-bed vehicle – like its predecessor, designed for payloads of 80 tonnes and more – is characterised by a range of further developments such as the even shorter bogie units. These developments are based on findings and observations in the field which have been collected, evaluated and integrated in the new F 7 concept.
The new EuroCompact Formula 7 generation is the result of intensive development work jointly carried out by the two companies. The goal set by all those involved in the project was to further optimize previous vehicle designs. In so doing, SCHEUERLE and NICOLAS are the first manufacturers that offer customers a further development in the compact class.
Like its predecessor, the F7 – with even more compact dimensions than before – aims to remain below those special requirement limitations set for heavy and special transportation whilst, at the same time, offering the greatest possible load length and maximum payload. Thus, the F 7 can become operational by means of a simplified licensing procedure, and requiring only one driver and a permanent certificate of exception for empty runs in Germany. The bogie technology is based on the proven pendulum axle technology used in the EuroCompact series with a 12-tonne axle load at a speed of 80 km/h. With one and two-axle dollys, two to five-axle pendulum bogies and different bridging and adapter versions, the F 7 EuroCompact series allows a wide range of combination possibilities to handle a large number of requirements. The F7 generation offers an impressive rang of innovations:
New: short construction whilst maintaining low heightThe more compact design of the gooseneck dolly combination and pendulum axle bogie has meant a reduction in length of 460 millimetres in the "F 7”. With this, the lowbed trailer combination is almost half a metre shorter with same lowbed length which has an additional positive affect on the cornering ability. The height of the pendulum axle bogie in the driving position has been reduced on the F 7 to a very low 1,165 mm, with axle compensation of 200/+400 mm.
New: improved cornering abilityBy reducing the length of the dolly and pendulum axle bogie, the coupling mass has been shortened to 17,190 mm when using a 5-metre bridge. Thus, the overall length when using a 4-axle truck tractor has been reduced to 21,740 mm. In addition, the EuroCompact pendulum axle technology offers a 60-degree steering angle which keeps the rear swing-out under 1,100 mm. The F 7 is also extremely manoeuvrable as part of the complete truck-trailer combination, and is absolutely no problem to drive around roundabouts as well as negotiating tight situations on the construction site. The F 7 pendulum axle bogie achieves cornering ability levels far superior to that of knuckle steering axle combinations.
New: gooseneck dolly with all-terrain coupling The lowbed is hitched to the drive-over gooseneck dolly by means of a simple-to-operate hook coupling. With the new all-terrain hook coupling, the deck can also be connected to the tractor on uneven ground and fully loaded without any problems.
New: going down for more height - with the new heavy-duty recess in the bogie unitExcavator booms and boom extensions can take up an even deeper position down to 600 mm above the road surface which has been made possible through the newly designed heavy-duty recess in the pendulum axle bogie of the F 7. This means the F 7 offers even more usable height for loading. The new 900 mm width ensures that massive boom extensions can also be accommodated.
