SCHEUERLE at the CONEXPO 2008 in Las Vegas
WideCombi – the new vehicle technology from SCHEUERLE for flexible transport assignments
At this year´s CONEXPO construction equipment and technology trade fair in Las Vegas from 11th – 15th March, SCHEUERLE Fahrzeugfabrik GmbH will be presenting its new WideCombi transport system which has been specially developed for the American market. This is a modular transporter concept that can be configured from a range of different bogie units. It is based on the company´s proven pendulum axle technology which has made SCHEUERLE heavy load vehicles recognized and valued products around the world. The WideCombi transport system is being presented by SCHEUERLE together with its American agents, TSP Inc., at its stand No. C4033-5, Central 1-2 Indoor.
The WideCombi transport system has been specially developed to meet the requirements of the American market. In this respect, the distances between the axles have been designed accordingly and there is also the possibility that the vehicle can be widened through the use of spacers. This means, on the one hand, the loading area can be adapted to suit the size of the load and, on the other, distributing the load over a larger area of the road. In order to achieve an optimal payload/tare weight ratio, the bogie units are designed in a stable lightweight assembly. The specially-developed SCHEUERLE frame is produced using the so-called split construction method.
In its basic design, the WideCombi transport system consists of bogies with 2 or 4 axle lines which can be coupled to each another. A gooseneck or towing connection equipment can be used to provide a connection to the tractor unit. For low load transportation, there is the possibility of integrating a loading bridge between the bogies. Thus, haulage operators have a wide range of possibilities at their disposal to be able to optimally adapt the transport unit to the transportation assignment in question.
The heart of the WideCombi is formed by the proven pendulum axle technology from SCHEUERLE. The twin-tyred axles are supported on strong axle arm. The hydraulic cylinders in the pendulum axles guarantee not only large axle compensation but also tremendous piston displacement in order to drive under stationary loads which are then lifted into the required driving position. In connection with the precise and smoothly-operating steering system, the Scheuerle pendulum axle bearing ensures easy and simple manoeuvring operations even when negotiating tight corners. This also supports the large steering angle of up to 60 degrees.
With the WideCombi, SCHEUERLE provides the American market with a flexible combination system to handle heavy transportation assignments covering a broad range of cargo, dimensions and weight. A further SCHEUERLE vehicle system available for the American market is the SuperVario. This heavy transport combination is characterised by an extremely small tare weight, low loading height and axles with high axle load compensation together with a 40-degree steering angle. The SuperVario is available in 4, 6 and 8-axle versions and is configurable for different combinations. In addition, SCHEUERLE offers a telescopic loading bridge for this series.
