Through strategic take-overs of long-standing automotive engineering companies, TIRSAN has turned its range of products into one of the most competitive in the area of commercial vehicles.
Apart from the established standard trailer product programme, TIRSAN acquired additional know-how and the product ranges of tank / silo and air cargo / clothes transportation / dry freight through the acquisition of Kässbohrer and TALSON. Thus, TIRSAN is today in a position to offer semi-trailers, trailers and superstructures in many different versions as well as special vehicles for demanding logistical tasks.
TIRSAN, a relatively young, aspiring company, was founded in Turkey in 1977. At the beginning, TIRSAN supplied the very dynamic Turkish domestic market and first of all provided vehicle solutions for the Turkish transportation sector. Within a few years, TIRSAN had developed into Turkey’s unchallenged number one. The internationalisation of the company was promoted by the rapidly developing transportation traffic within the European market.
In 1998, TIRSAN opened its current plant to the south of Istanbul, which is one of the most modern of its kind in the whole country. In 1998, entry into the European market was established with the founding of TIRSAN Anhängerproduktion und Handel GmbH in Goch on the Rhine in Germany. At the same time, the new plant in Goch started production with a covered manufacturing area of currently more than 22,000 m² on an area of more than 110,000 m². In July 2002, the tank / silo division of the old-established German company Kässbohrer was taken over. In 2003, the take-over of the Dutch company TALSON took place, an established manufacturer of sophisticated, high-quality box semi-trailers for the logistics sectors air cargo, clothes transportation and dry freight.
All in all, TIRSAN today can be described as follows:
- TIRSAN is a modern, internationally active manufacturer of commercial vehicles.
- TIRSAN is a complete provider of trailers, semi-trailers and vehicle superstructures in the product areas of trailers, tank / silo (Kässbohrer), Box (TALSON) and special vehicles.
- TIRSAN is in a position to offer individual customised solutions and special vehicles along with its vast standard programme.
- TIRSAN has the technical know-how and modern facilities to manufacture technically sophisticated, internationally competitive vehicles.
Due to the acquisition of Kässbohrer and TALSON, TIRSAN has a very strong product range, innovative power, a distinctive image and a potential for growth within Europe.
Some data/ facts of the year ending 2004:
- Turnover (overall, all areas of the company) ca. 90 million euro
- Number of units (total) ca. 3,000 units
- Production area ca. 70,000 m²

in Goch)
- Staff (total, all areas of the company) ca. 910

In the years to come, TIRSAN plans to continuously strengthen its presence in Europe. TIRSAN will adjust itself individually to the markets in Europe. The integration phase of TALSON and Kässbohrer has recently been brought to a successful conclusion. TIRSAN will thus concentrate its efforts on the enlargement of the sales and service organisations in several European countries.
