The "Wiesel" swap body lifting truck from KAMAG
– top performer in terminals and logistics yards
At this year´s "transport logistic" international trade fair in Munich from 12th-15th June – in Hall A6, Stand 321 – KAMAG Transporttechnik GmbH & Co. KG is presenting one of the most powerful and efficient special vehicles for moving swap body containers at terminals and logistics yards. Under the slogan, "Swap to Profit”, a number of innovations have been integrated in the design of the Wiesel providing an increase in cost-effectiveness for the operator.
The current series driver´s cab - from the DaimlerChrysler ATEGO production series - offers a comfortable, ergonomically-designed working area. All operating controls are clearly arranged with direct access available to the driver at all times. The low-mounted cab has been designed for getting in and out of the vehicle both safely and easily which in itself is an unbeatable advantage if operators have to leave the cab frequently e.g. for opening and closing of doors on swap bodies. All functions have been conceived for economical one-man operations.
The diesel engine (Euromot 3) also comes from DaimlerChrysler´s series production. The large steering angle of 48 degrees makes the Wiesel extremely manoeuvrable at a level which corresponds to that of an automobile. The handling frequency per hour that is attained through the Wiesel, underlines the cost-effectiveness of the vehicle´s concept.
An extensive catalogue of additional equipment allows the operator the possibility of configuring his own vehicle to fully meet specific operational requirements:
The optional, hydraulic liftable/lowerable fifth wheel for moving semi-trailers can now be pneumatically uncoupled by remote control from the driver´s cab of the Wiesel. The overall lift height of up to 1,350 mm allows the transport of all standard semi-trailer types from normal to high volume trailers without having to crank up the landing legs. With the automatic trailer coupling (optional) at the rear, central axle and turning steering frame trailers can be also moved. The clear layout of the driver´s cab provides optimal support during these operations.
An ABS plug socket (optional) guarantees control over the trailer brakes during shunting. The already reduced amount of maintenance work required on the Wiesel can be additionally minimized by a central lubrication unit (optional). For the driver´s cab, an air conditioning system is available as a further option which ensures optimal interior temperatures at the touch of a button.
Just like its predecessors, the Wiesel can be licensed without any problems for use on public roads according to current road traffic licensing regulations.
"Swap to Profit" – is the slogan under which KAMAG is presenting the Wiesel and refers to the cost-effectiveness and operating efficiency that the lifting truck offers its owner.
A standard feature with the Wiesel is the long service interval of 1,000 operating hours which is only possible due to the almost wear-free, hydrostatic drive. The extremely easy maintenance and servicing is supported by the use of large-scale production units and components, and the vehicle´s average fuel consumption is under 5 litres per operating hour. With this, the Wiesel is indispensable for every logistics yard and terminal where efficient container handling is a prerequisite for economical yard logistics.
