Wieland-Werke AG: utmost importance is attached to reliable supply
Security of supply for customers based on contracts, product liability and warranty
Hanover Fair, 16 – 20 April 2007, Hall 5, stand E15
In the production of copper and copper-alloy semi-finished products, Wieland-Werke AG, Ulm, Germany, offers its customers a high degree of security of supply through a comprehensive security concept. This concept starts with the procurement of raw materials which is of particular importance in times of limited resources and constantly rising metal prices. Raw material supplies are ensured on the basis of contracts between Wieland and raw material suppliers. Wieland in turn guarantees metal supply to its customers through long-term contracts. When the order is being placed, Wieland fixes the raw material quantity required at the price quoted on the Metal Exchange on the day of order booking, thus eliminating the speculative risk for the customer. The customer undertakes to take delivery of the quantity within three months and in return is given a guarantee for the price that has been fixed for the order quantity. Wieland offers an extensive warranty and product liability for its entire product range in addition to this raw material and price guarantee. Agreements regarding the assumption of liability between Wieland and associations such as the ZVSHK (Central Association for Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning) provide a definite guarantee for the customer. Maximum security of supply is also ensured through the possibility of using redundant production capacity within the companies of the Wieland Group and through an on-time delivery rate of over 95 %. Moreover, Wieland has committed itself to a sustainable materials philosophy, which means an efficient use of raw materials. The company re-uses scrap from all production sites of the group, thus cutting production costs and saving resources.
Wieland offers its customers the possibility to secure prices on the basis of contracts, upon individual agreement even beyond the three-month period. Payment of a surcharge allows them to extend this standard period, which in turn enables Wieland to provide planning and supply security also for long-term projects. The surcharge is a certain percentage of the metal value and based on the number of months exceeding the three-month period. As a result, metal prices become calculable which allows customers to protect themselves against price increases.
