Wieland at ACHEMA: Solutions for High-Performance Heat Transfer
ACHEMA, trade fair in Frankfurt, 18 to 22 June 2012, Hall 5.1, Stand D54
At ACHEMA 2012 Wieland-Werke AG, Ulm, will be presenting its solutions for high-performance heat transfer in the process industry as well as in mechanical and plant engineering under the Wieland Thermal Solutions brand. Wieland’s focus at the trade fair will be on GEWA finned tubes and high-performance finned tubes. These tubes make the significant optimisation of different types of shell-and-tube heat exchangers possible. The manufacturer of semi-finished products will be presenting the complete range of tube products that cannot only be made in copper and copper alloys but increasingly also in aluminium, carbon steel, stainless steel, Duplex stainless steel and titanium. Due to their excellent heat transfer the inner-grooved and outer-finned tubes are particularly suitable for a large number of application fields ranging from the oil- and gas industry, the chemical and petrochemical industry through to power plant engineering. Further highlights at the trade fair will be GEWA-safe safety tubes as well as the WICOATEC coating.
Finned and high-performance finned tubes for compact and efficient solutionsGEWA finned and high-performance finned tubes presented by Wieland at ACHEMA make a significant increase in heat-exchanger performance in existing systems possible. For new systems this leads to a marked reduction in investment costs through a much more compact design and a reduced number of heat exchangers per unit. Depending on the requirement, GEWA finned tubes alternatively result in a more efficient use of energy or the reduction of liquid inventory which also means a reduction in operating costs. Moreover, Wieland high-performance tubes not only lead to improvements in safety, availability and life of the systems but also to resource-saving processes. Wieland offers a wide range of tube solutions and materials, from pure copper, copper alloys, carbon and stainless steel through to special alloys such as Duplex stainless steel and titanium.
Safety through leakage gap
GEWA-safe safety tubes are another highlight. These tubes are based on a tube-in-tube solution. Channels between inner and outer tube make easy control of the leakage gap possible. The good metallic contact of the two tubes results in excellent heat transfer without additional heat transfer fluid. GEWA-safe tubes ensure reliable separation of reactive and explosive media without additional circuit, for example in the pre-heating of fuel gas for gas turbines. GEWA-safe tubes are also used for the protection against environmentally harmful and toxic substances, for instance for the insulation of heat transfer oil in transformer stations. Another application field is drinking water protection according to DIN EN 1717 for heat-pump systems.
Strong and very thin: WICOATEC coating results in longer lifeAt ACHEMA Wieland will also be presenting the innovative WICOATEC coating. Due to its resistance to acids, alkaline solutions and water as well as temperatures of up to 400 degrees Celsius this silicon-oxide coating is suitable as corrosion protection for heat exchangers and for the reduction of fouling. The high-quality WICOATEC coating is extremely uniform and completely covers all types of structures. As a result, aluminium components can also be effectively protected against acid corrosion. Another special characteristic of WICOATEC is its resistance to undermining and delamination. Besides aluminium, metals such as copper, copper-nickel or stainless steel can be coated as well. So there are practically no limits to the applications of WICOATEC in terms of corrosion protection and temperature resistance.
