Beginning in late June of 2009, the climate theme centre Klimahaus® Bremerhaven 8° Ost will open its doors to visitors for a trip, through 5,000 m² of exhibition area, around the world along the eighth degree of longitude east. To cool the various geographical zones being simulated in the giant building, the centre operators have installed fan coil units from the GEA Power-Geko and GEA Flex-Geko families of products. Systems from GEA Air Treatment GmbH, in Herne, Germany, ensure that visitors will experience highly realistic impressions in their walking tour: from the Alpine coolness of Swiss mountain pastures, through the furnace of the Sahel, to the bitter cold of the Antarctic and the frequently changing weather of Northern Germany.
At the climate theme centre Klimahaus® Bremerhaven 8° Ost in Northern Germany, fan coil units from GEA Air Treatment contribute to creating realism for visitors to experience the climates of various regions of the earth. The various zones of the theme centre simulate the geographically typical temperatures and humidity being depicted: high altitudes of the Alps, the Mediterranean island of Sardinia, the expending Sahel Zone in Niger in Northern Africa, holm meadows, or even the vicinity of the South Pole. GEA Power-Geko fan coil units, with volume ratings of 535 to 1,305 m³/h and cooling ratings of 1.45 to 4,73 kW, not only allow realistic experience of cool and windy climate zones, but also provide for the required climate control of the building zones.
A total of 31 GEA Power-Gekos and 7 GEA Flex-Gekos were installed in collaboration with specialists from the Berlin offices of the company Axima Deutschland GmbH of Cologne, which implemented the systems as contractor for ventilation and air conditioning in the Bremerhaven Klimahaus®. As Roland Wiemann, Director of the Eastern Sales Region of GEA Happel Klimatechnik, announced: "We are most pleased by the opening of this new attraction in Bremerhaven. Even when the visitors very realistically experience various climate extremes in the building, they don’t need to dress especially warmly. Thanks to the sophisticated fan and air conditioning technology, there is no danger to health at all. There is no risk of catching a cold.”
