With the new generation of the Z.TUCAN, ZAHORANSKY is setting new standards in the fully automated production of nail polish brushes. The specialized machine manufactures up to 300 brushes per minute while offering exceptional product versatility. At the heart of the latest development is the newly implemented servo-driven main drive, which significantly simplifies machine setup and changeovers. The Z.TUCAN is now also equipped with the ZMI 4.0 machine control system, while an optional camera inspection system further enhances process reliability and manufacturing precision.
The Z.TUCAN continues to stand out for its well-established strengths, above all its outstanding flexibility. Whether producing classic nail polish brushes in short, long, round, or oval designs, specialty brushes, or even applications for medical technology, the machine can be precisely configured to meet individual customer requirements while processing a wide range of filament lengths. The filaments are securely fixed in the brush body using loop technology and a fine wire. For increased brush volume, the Z.TUCAN can also be configured with a double-hole option, enabling two filament tufts to be inserted into two adjacent elongated holes.
With the new generation, ZAHORANSKY reinforces its commitment to providing manufacturers of nail polish and cosmetic brushes with highly flexible production solutions precisely tailored to their needs. “The strength of the Z.TUCAN lies in its adaptability. With the new generation, we have made machine setup and changeovers easier than ever while raising process reliability to a new level through increased automation,” says Andreas Ehmann, Product Manager Personal Care at ZAHORANSKY.
Modernized Drive and Control Technology
A key feature of the new generation is the redesigned main drive. The tufting axis is now powered by a servo motor and can be moved into different positions, making machine setup and product changeovers significantly easier. This is complemented by the intelligent ZMI 4.0 machine control system, now also available for the Z.TUCAN. Thanks to its enlarged display, operators can conveniently monitor all machine processes. Mounted on an ergonomic swivel arm at the top of the machine, the screen can be positioned and operated comfortably from different working areas. The new generation also reflects its technological advancement visually, featuring a modern dark and light gray color concept.
Optical Tuft Inspection for Maximum Process Reliability
To meet the highest quality standards, ZAHORANSKY offers the Z.TUCAN with an optional integrated camera inspection system. A dedicated display provides visual process monitoring, reliably checking that filament tufts are present and correctly positioned. Due to space requirements, this option is available exclusively for the short-chain machine version. This version covers the standard processes of tufting and trimming, while the alternatively available long-chain version includes additional grinding stations for end rounding and further finishing operations.
Optional Additional Modules
Beyond brush production itself, the Z.TUCAN can be expanded into a complete production line with a range of additional modules. The coating and drying unit applies a customer-supplied specialty coating to stabilize the filament tufts, preventing individual filaments from protruding when the brush is inserted into the narrow neck of a nail polish bottle. The coating is dried within minutes in a drying tower, giving the brush its final shape. Upon contact with the nail polish, the coating dissolves chemically.
Another available module is the counting and sorting unit. It automatically counts the finished brushes and transfers them in precisely defined quantities to a rotary table equipped with collection boxes. Once the preset quantity has been reached, the rotary table automatically indexes to the next box, ensuring efficient downstream handling.
